Howdy y'all, i recently decided to do a cover of Penelope in my audio production coarse
and after viewing numerous tabs on the net i realised none of them were very accurate.
Generally speaking people had the main riff down but the rest of the song was severely
lacking - confusing the piccolo bass (bass with light strings that is an octave higher
than usual)
lines for guitar and vice versa. I also found people were combining the bass during the
verse/chorus with the kick drum groove as they have a very similar sound. I haven't bothered
to check YouTube to try and match what they're playing live - this sounds extremely
close to
the album version, which is what you want ;) There are a number of inversions that are just
as easy to play but this worked well for me.
Hope you enjoy it!

it ring out)

As mentioned earlier the bass lines are played on a piccolo bass. If you don't have one
it still
sounds fine and if you really wanted you could use a pitch shifter to move it up an octave.

Bass 1:
Verse/chorus (you can add extra plucks on the first 7, 10 and 8
but its the kick drum that gives that impression)
G |--------------------------7----|
D |---------------------/7h9---9--|
A |--/7----5--/10-----------------|
E |----------------8--------------|

Bridge (there is a piano line that mimics most of these notes, listen for the timing,
its quite slow)
G |----------------0-----------------------------------------------------|
D |----------4-------------------------9~----10~--12~--------------------|
A |--7~----7---7-----------------7---------------------10~----9~---------|
E |----------------------7~----7---7------------------------------7h8-7--|

Bass 2:
Bridge-overdub (its a steady continuous pluck here, i just added spaces to make counting easier)
G |------------------------------------------|
D |------------------------------------------|
A |--7777-7777-7777-7777-6666-6666-6666-6666-|
E |------------------------------------------|

G ----------------------------------------------------------|
D ----------------------------------------------------------|
A -10101010-10101010-10101010-10101010-7777-7777-6666-------|
E ----------------------------------------------------7777--|

Thats it, I'll leave it to you to figure out when to play all these parts, its pretty
obvious. Peace!
