New Born Complete Tab

New Born
Muse

Tabbed by Sian Clarke

I've looked at the other versions of this song elsewhere on the site and I don't think
any of them are quite right (no offence meant) so I have submitted the complete version,
which I know is 100% correct, but if you disagree, e-mail me with your comments or
corrections at sarah.lardy@virgin.net.

I'm quite proud of this as it's only my second tab i've done and i've only been playing
a couple of months and I think it's quite straightforward and easy to understand, but
again, any complaints to the above address.

!!!!!!!!!!!!Don't forget to downtune your bottom E string to D!!!!!!!!!!!!!

INTRO: (00.14)

  Em Bsus4 Em Bsus4 B

g-9-------9-------|-9-------9-------|-9-------9-------|-9-------8-------|
d-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|
A-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|
D-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|

(For the first 2 notes of the arpeggio use downstrokes and use upstrokes
for the second 2. Also, it's easier just to barre the 7th fret)

VERSES 1-4: (00.28)

g-9---9---9-------|-9-------9-------|-7--------7--------|-8-------8-------|
d-----------------|-----------------|-------------------|-----------------|
A-----------------|-----------------|-------------------|-----------------|
D-----------------|-----------------|-------------------|-----------------|

(Again, use a barre on the 7th fret, moving up to the 8th fret at the
C chord and back down again for the G and B chords)

ROCK RIFF: (01.24)

  E A D G
e-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|

  C A#dim Em/B B
e-----------------|------------------|----------------|-----------------|

A-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-0-|-1----1----1----1-|-2-------2--2-0-|-2-2-2-2-2-2-0---|
D-----------------|------------------|----------------|-----------------|

Repeat the above twice, after which play....

   C A#dim Em/B B E5
e--------------|----------------|---------------|---------------|--------|
b--1---1--x-x--|--2--------x-x--|--0--0---0--0--|--4------------|--------|
g--0---0--x-x--|--0--0-----x-x--|--0--0---0--0--|--4------------|---9\---|
d--2---2--x-x--|--2-----2--x-x--|--2--2---2--0--|--4------------|---9\---|
A--3---3--x-x--|--1--------x-x--|--2--2---2--0--|--2------------|---7\---|
D--------------|----------------|---------------|---------4--2--|--------|

(The first four bars should be played with downstrokes and are extremely
fuzzy, the rest of the riff is played more cleanly, but the playing is
quite loose, so it doesn't really matter about accuracy)

BRIDGE RIFF: (02.00)

  E
e-------------------|-------------------|------------------|------------------|

D-2--------2--------|-2--------2--------|-2--------2-------|-2--------2-------|

(Use your first finger to fret the low E and your second finger the high E and B.
This doubles the bass and later continues below the guitars range, so a pitch-
shifter or VG-8 set down an octave is used, played at the 7th position)

VERSES 5-8: (02.08)

D-2--5----------|--0---0---------------|--------------------------|---------------------|

(The tempo is cut to half here, the chords are similar to the earlier rock riff and
should be played loudly. Use your first and third finger to fret the octaves, making
sure to damp all the other strings other than the low D)

(It doesn't really matter whereabouts you mute the bottom string as long as you don't hit a
harmonic. Use alternate picking for the semi-quaver rhythms, but downstrokes for the quavers.
Use lots of distortion for the harmonics)

(This solo is really hard to play accurately, because of the speed and slides, especially
when Matt uses his whammy pedal to swoop into the third bar. Do it slowly and build up the
speed, using alternate picking throughout)

LYRICS (not sure about most of them)

Link it to the world, link it to yourself
Stretch it like it's a birth squeeze
The love for what you hide, the bitterness inside
Is growing like the new born

When you've seen, seen
Too much, too young, young
Souless is everywhere

Hopeless times to roam, the distance to your home
Fades away to nowhere
How much are you worth, you can't come down to earth
You're swelling up, you're unstoppable

Cos you've seen, seen
Too much, too young, young
Souless is everywhere

Destroy the spineless, show, show me it's real
Wasting our last chance to come away
Just break the silence, cos I'm drifting away
Away from you

Link it to the wall, link it to yourself
Stretch it like it's a birth squeeze
The love for what you hide, the bitterness inside
Is growing like the new born

When you've seen, seen
Too much, too young, young
Souless is everywhere

Just want to spoil it, show me it's real
Wasting our last chance to come away
Just break the silence, cos I'm tears turn away
Away from you

Wish I could take all the credit for this tab, but most of it is based on one I found
in a magazine, including the helpful tips on how to play each separate part, but it did
take me bloody ages to tab it. So there.
