Most Things Havent Worked Out Tab

Song: MOST THINGS I HAVEN'T WORKED OUT / LEAVING IN THE MORNING

Author: Junior Kimbrough

Tabs made by: Marco "mazzukster" Mazzucchi

Standard tuning.

Junior Kimbrough's take on the classic 12 bars blues is actually an 11 bars blues: the
two songs are basically the same,
except "Leaving..." has lyrics and switches to the 12 bars progression during the sung
lines and the solo, while
"Most things..." keeps the 11 bars for the whole song.
Both songs are played in the key of Ab, but in the "most things..." record the
instruments are not perfectly tuned.
The tabs here are in the key of A, standard tuning, just to make things easier.

You can play the song in many different ways. The most straightforward (and easiest) one
is to avoid picking the bass line,
having a bass or another guitar playing it along, or just forgoing it completely (the
result will lack rhythm in that case,
though). With this version, you can use a pick.

(add another A chord here if
you're playing the 12 bars variant)

Or you can play the bass line with your thumb, picking the 5th, 4th and 1st string for
the three different chords
(this is VERY useful while soloing).

You'll notice, though, that if you do that while following the tabs above, you'll end up
"overlapping" the bass when you
get to play the lower notes.

To avoid it, you can switch to the barré chords when needed, like this:

e|----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|--------7--5--------5--7--------7--5--------5--7--------7--5--------5--7----|
A|--0--0--0--0--0--7--------0--0--0--0--0--7--------0--0--0--0--0--7----------|
E|-----------------5--5--5-----------------5--5--5-----------------5--5--5----|

                                                                                (like above)

e|------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|--------7--5--------5--7--------7--5--------5---------------------------------------------------|
D|--0--0--0--0--0--7--------0--0--0--0--0--7-----7--------7--5--------5--7--------7--5--------5---|
A|-----------------5--5--5-----------------5--5--5--0--0--0--0--0--7--------0--0--0--0--0--7-----7|
E|-----------------------------------------------------------------5--5--------------------5--5--5|

e|------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|--------9--7-----7--9--------7--5--------5-----------------------------5------------------------|
D|--------------9-----------------------7-----7--------7--5-----2-/5--7-----7--------------5--7---|
A|--7--7--7--7--7--7--7--5--5--5--5--5--5--5--5--0--0--0--0--0--0--0--0--------7--7-----7--------0|
E|-----------------------------------------------------------------------0--0--0--0--0--0--0--0---|

Or you can just slide your index finger all along the fretboard, like I do in the last
bar above. Personally, in terms of
sound, I prefer to use the barré, switching to sliding once in a while just to rest the
hand if I'm playing with an
acoustic guitar.
