I sat down and figured this out today.. all the posted tabs seemed wrong. this is
as good as I got it
              G D C
-------3-3-----3----2-2---2-2---0-0---0-0---0-0-
-------3-3-----3----3-3---3-3---1-1---1-1---1-1-
-------0-0-----0----2-2---2-2---0-0---0-0---0-0-
------------------0-------------2-2---2-2---2-2-
-----------0h2----------0-----3-3-3---3-3-3-3-3-
-0-2-3------------------------------3-----------

That is the main riff that plays through the whole song

-0h1p0-------------------------
-------2-0-------0-------------
|-----------0h2p0---------------| lil part played after 2x main riff in beginning only played
|-------------------------------| once

when he starts to sing "I would buy your love" start playing a D chord till the chorus
[ Tab from: https://www.guitartabs.cc/tabs/b/barenaked_ladies/if_i_had_a_million_dollars_tab_ver_3.html ]
Chorus: figure out the strumming for chords... listen to the song... they go C D G Em
    C D G Em C
-0--2----3-3---3-3---------0-----
-1--3----3-3---3-3---------1-----
-0--2----0-0---0-0---------0-----
-2--0--------------2-------2-----
-3-----------------2-0-2-3-3-----
-------3-----2-------------------

On the transition from the Chorus play a C to D then back into the main riff

This set up repeats till the end of the song

Last lil part

---------------------------3-----
---------------------------3-----
-------0---------0h1p0-----0-----
-----0-------0h2-------2-0-0-----
---2-----2h3---------------2-----
-3-------------------------3-----

Throughout the song the strumming pattern changes a little bit especially with the
single note bass parts. So have fun with it. Also in the Chorus you can play the
bass notes in the first two chords, they are the same as when you play the regular
riff. Hope you enjoy
