The picking patten is like so, the chords used are D - Am - C - G

Each chord is a whole measure. Use your thumb for the lower notes and your first and
fingers for the two notes played together.

e|----2--------2---------2--------2-----------------------------------------|
B|----3--------3---------3--------3-----------------------------------------|
G|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|-0-------0---------0---------0--------------------------------------------|
A|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
[ Tab from: https://www.guitartabs.cc/tabs/s/sufjan_stevens/chicago_acoustic_tab_ver_2.html ]
e|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|------1----------1-------1------1-----------------------------------------|
G|------2----------2-------2------2-----------------------------------------|
D|----2--------2--------2------2--------------------------------------------|
A|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|

e|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------1-----------1---------1---------1--------------------------------|
G|---------0-----------0---------0---------0--------------------------------|
D|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|----3-----------3----------3----------3-----------------------------------|
E|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|

e|--------3---------3-----------3-----------3---------------------------------|
B|--------0---------0-----------0-----------0---------------------------------|
G|----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|----3----------3-----------2-----------2------------------------------------|

That's it, the whole song basically repeats itself over and over.. He might do different
on the Am chord, picking a open A string instead of picking the second fret of the D string.
