John Lee Hooker Chords & Tabs

Version: 2 Type: Tab

Tupelo Tab

i'm not sure if this is 100% acurate but it's diffinately close, i only
tabbing it because i couldn't find a good tab for it so learnt it myself
using JLH videos and working bits out.. The song is very simple blues
song. Listen a long to the song and you should get this quite easily.

Intro:

E -----------------------¦-----------------------¦
B -----------------------¦-----------------------¦
G ---------------------1-¦-----------------------¦
D -------0-----0---2-----¦-------0-----0---2-2---¦
A ---0h2---0h2-------0---¦---0h2---0h2-------0---¦
E -0-------------3--------¦-0------------3-------¦

E ----------------------------¦---------------------¦
B ----------------------------¦---------------------¦
G --------------------------1-¦---------------------¦
D ---0h20h20h20h2-2-------2---¦-------0-----0---2---¦
A ------------------0---0-----¦---0h2---0h2-------0-¦
E -0------------------3-------¦-0-------------3-----¦
[ Tab from: https://www.guitartabs.cc/tabs/j/john_lee_hooker/tupelo_tab_ver_2.html ]
the verse is pretty much the same as the intro in slightly different order.

These are a few licks that are played in the verses (don't think these are
that accurate but i had a go). Listen to the song to know where these bits
are played. If you want you could improvise these bits (which i personally
 think can sound great)

Lick 1:
E ---------¦
B ---------¦
G ---------¦
D -2p0-----¦
A -----2b~-¦
E ---------¦

Lick 2:
E --------------------------¦
B -3p2-0h2--3p2-0h2---------¦
G ------------------0h2-0h2-¦
D --------------------------¦
A --------------------------¦
E --------------------------¦

Lick 3:
E -0-00-0-00-0-00-0-¦
B -3-11-3-11-3-11-3-¦
G ------------------¦
D ------------------¦
A ------------------¦
E ------------------¦

There are 2 short solos played in the middle of the song which i am not
able to tab out, all i can say is that the notes played are usually around
the Am chord and don't go any higher than the 3rd or 4th fret. So just try
improvisen and you should get the feel of it.
