Version: 2 Type: Tab

Runes To My Memory Tab

Song: Runes To My Memory
Band: Amon Amarth
From: With Oden On Our Side

Tuning: B standard (Down 2 1/2 steps from concert pitch/standard)

Palm muting throughout is optional, if you ask me. It's kinda obvious where you should
and where you shouldn't. The strings are labeled in standard (EADGBe), but that's only
template purposes. THE TUNING IN THIS TRANSCRIPTION IS B STANDARD. I don't know if
what Amon Amarth uses, but it works for this tab. Remember, this is an ARTIST'S
and is not meant to be the absolute correct way to do it.

Power chords are optional on this riff. When playing with two guitars, I highly suggest
playing the root notes like I put forth here so that you get a clearer sound. Fast
picking on each note in the intro!

Intro

E|-8--7-5~---7-8--|-1~--3-1-0~-5-7-|-------------------- | /

The verse is wierd, so I've tabbed two DIFFERENT ways to do it for me. Pick which one
like better (I like version one, myself)

The Verse (version 1) Palm-mute where necessary.

SIDENOTE: Measures 3 and 4 of this riff can be altered yet again according to
Change the 10's to 2's and the 12's to 3's, like this:

e|-----------------------------|
B|-----------------------------|
G|-----------------------------|
D|--2-----2-----2-----2--------|
A|--3-----3-----3-----3--------|
E|----0-0---0-0---0-0---0-0----|

In essence, the whole progression descends and lingers for the last two measures. This
my ORIGINAL transcription, but I listened to the song more closely. Still, I like this way.

The Verse (version 2) (Notes in parentheses are optional, I think they sound heavier
them, though. And the same idea from my side-note earlier works here, too: just apply
power chords instead of the root-3rd power chords.)

Pre-chorus (I'm kinda shaky on this one, so you may have to just figure it out on your
in a few parts, but it's got the same system as the intro. Use your good judgement!)

The Chorus (The melody we've all been waiting for, or the riff that you just scrolled
to get to right away. I don't know nor I think you really care to know that underlying
guitar part, but if I or anyone else figures it out, I'll add it. HELP OUT BY COMMENTING
YOU THINK THE OTHER GUITAR PART GOES, BECAUSE I'M NOT THAT GOOD AT TRANSCRIBING!!)

Chorus Rhythm/Post-Chorus (strumming used here, I like to use the rhythm from "Children
the Grave" intro by Black Sabbath for this one. Swing-feel is what it's called I beileve)

G|-----------------------|
D|--10----9-----3----3---|
A|--10----9-----3----3---|

If all the extra explanations irritated you, sorry. I just hated reading tabs in my
months that weren't descriptive enough in execution. This tab was meant to give
a
to be proud of being able to play correctly/the way they like. I am giving you all
in execution, so don't tell me it's "wrong". IF it is "wrong" then I suggest you tab
out yourself as to show everyone the "right" way. DOn't bash me if you can't do any better.

And to tose who praise me for this one, just go out and have fun with the song!
