On My Way
words and music Ben Kweller

   G D G D
I want to kill this man, but he turned around and ran
   C D C D
I'll kill him with karate that I learned in Japan
     G D G D
He wouldn't see my face, I would never leave a trace
        C D C D
No, I wouldn't use a bullet cause a bullet's a disgrace

G Bm C Bm
Aw, mom, I never thought that I was a murdering man
       C G C G
But tonight I'm on my way, tonight I'm on my way

              G D G D
There's this drawer that I know in a house up the road
       C D C D
That's full of things that are easily sold.
          G D G D
When they go out of town I could go and snoop around
     C D C D
And make myself rich off the things that I found.

G Bm C Bm
Aw, mom, I never thought that I was a stealing man
     C G C G
But tonight I'm on my way. Tonight I'm on my way.

       G D G D
I was sitting on the bleacher staring at the speaker,
   C D C D
Reading his lips but I could not understand.
      G D G D
So I opened up my ears and clearly I could hear
      C D C D
This detailed story all about a grain of sand.

G Bm C Bm
Aw, mom, I always dreamt of being a good listener
     C G C G
So tonight I'm on my way. Tonight I'm on my way.

             G D G D
There's this kid you gotta meet. He lives across the street.
         C D C D
He's got spirit and heart. We're ten years apart.
      G D G D
He is up for anything. He can hang with anyone.
     C D C D
He still likes the things we used to think were fun.

G Bm C Bm
Aw, mom, I never thought that I could have a friend
     C G C G
But tonight I'm on my way. Tonight I'm on my way.

       G D G D
I'm in love with someone who's as pretty as a flower.
C D C D
Her life gives me power, so I'm buyin' her a ring.
          G D G D
She makes hats with her hands. She is such an artist.
C D C D
I'm her biggest fan and I'm teaching her to sing

G Bm C Bm
Aw, mom, I never thought that I could love no one
      C G C G
But tonight I'm on my way. Tonight I'm on my way.
        C (D?) G C G
Oh, tonight, I’m on my way.

I found this song to be very difficult to learn, but as sophisticated as it is, it is a deceptively simple
song.

Only pay attention to the tab for the two verses where I notate G-intro, A/Cmaj7/D-intro, etc.
Where the line stops after the underscore, that's where the [G-intro] ends as a measure.

[Intro]

[G-intro] By the Rivers of Babylon,
[G-intro] Where he sat down.
[A/Cmaj7/D-intro] And there he went,
[Intro-3] When he remembered [G2] Zion.

For the wicked, [G] carry us away
Captivity, [C] require from us a [G] song.
How can we sing King [C?] Alpha’s song in a [D] strange [G] land?

So let the [G] words of our [C] mouth,
And the [G] meditations of our [C] hearts
Be [G] acceptable in thy [C] sight [stop]
[A capella] Over [G] I

I saw there wasn't a tab for "Watching the Wheels", which is a great song, and I didn't know how to tab it,
so I snuck it in the comments section. I figured the most traffic would be through "Imagine". I also have a
version of "Imagine" that I will post soon.

[C] People say I’m crazy [Fmaj7] doing what I’m [C] doing
[C] They give me all kinds of warnings [Fmaj7] to save me from [C] ruin
[Fmaj7] When I say that [Dm] I’m o.k. well they [G] look at me kind of strange
[Fmaj7] “Surely you’re not [Dm] happy now you no [G] longer play the game?”

[C] People say I’m lazy [Fmaj7] dreaming my [C] life away
[C] Well they give me all kinds of advice [Fmaj7] designed to [C] enlighten me
I [Fmaj7] tell them that I’m [Dm] doing fine watching [G] shadows on the wall
[Fmaj7]“Don’t you miss the [Dm]big time boy, you’re no [G]longer on the ball?”

[G] No longer riding on the [Am] merry-go-round
[F] I just [F7] had to let it go [C] [C/B] [C/A] [C/G] [Fmaj7]

[C] Ah, people asking questions, [Fmaj7] lost in confusion

That's the intro part, but I play it during the verse, too.
Just substitute the D, G chords with the tab above.
The tempo is the rhythm of the bass.
