Staind plays it with their guitar tuned a 1/2 step down.

just use that kind of picking and light strumming pattern with these chords:

toward the end of the intro, slide from the 3rd fret of the G (3rd) string
to the 5th fret. uhh...too lazy to figure out the rest of the song.
