Dont Know Why Tab

I know this isn’t how Danny plays it, as on the tour DVD, he’s playing it with the capo
the 6th fret. However, this is how I’ve been playing it since Wonderland came out, and
sounds fine. Plus, if you play the correct version wrong, it sounds like a Hawaiian ukulele!!

To save space, I’ve put some of the little riffs above the lyrics where they happen, in
line form, for example –
D --- 5 --- 2 --- 0 ---
That basically means play on the D string, not play a D chord.

Questions, comments, mistakes or McFly’s used socks (ewww...) are all kindly received at
email address –

If you are a 13-year old teenie bopper PRETENDING TO BE McFLY though, then don’t waste
time in adding me – I’ve already dealt with one of you before, and you’re not funny or
enough to be McFly.

                 E D A
And I don’t know why I just let it slip by me all the time.
                       E
I just wish you’d have tried

Don’t right your wrong with my mistakes, coz my head’s held high!

MIDDLE 8.
                                                        E
e ----------------------------------------------------- 0-|
B ----------------------------------------------------- 0-|
G --- 5 --- 4 --- 2 --- 0 ----------------------------- 1
D --------------------------- 4 --- 4h5 --- 4 --- 0 --- 2
A ----------------------------------------------------- 2-|
E ----------------------------------------------------- 0-|

(NOTE – although this isn’t on the Wonderland CD, when this song is played live, after
riff, the violinsts add in a rhythmic change from E to E7 and then back to E. I always
in the E7 change, as I think it sounds nicer, but it’s up to you if you want to add it
or not.)

Play the next riff with each fretted note corresponding with each word. (listen to the
if you don’t get it.)

                                       E
Dreams we have as kids all fade away
G - 5 -- 4 –- 2 - 0 -------------------|
D ------------------ 4 -- 5 – 4 -- 0 --|

   Now it’s not the same…
G – 5 – 4 -- 2 – 0 -- 4 ---

(NOTE – on the live version, as a build up before the solo, all stringed instruments
bass, violins, etc) play this short riff –

G -- 5 – 5 – 4 – 4 – 2 – 2 – 4 – 4 -- X5

 - before Tom jumps in with the solo. This again isn’t on the Wonderland CD, but it’s
to play!)

SOLO –

e -------- 4 – 4 – 4 – 4 – 2 – 0 – 5 – 4 – 2 – 0 ---------|
B - 0h2h5 ---------------------------------------- 0h2h5 -|
G --------------------------------------------------------|
D --------------------------------------------------------|
A --------------------------------------------------------|
E --------------------------------------------------------|

e 5 – 4 – 2 – 0 – 9 – 7 – 5 – 4 – 5 – 4 2h4h2 – 0 ---|
B ---------------------------------------------------|
G ---------------------------------------------------|
D ---------------------------------------------------|
A ---------------------------------------------------|
E ---------------------------------------------------|

e --------------0 – 2 – 4h54h5h4h5 --- 0 --|
B 0h2h5 – 0h2 –-------------------- 3 -----|
G -----------------------------------------|
D -----------------------------------------|
A -----------------------------------------|
E -----------------------------------------|

(NOTE – I’m not 100% sure on the last part of the solo. The above version is my own take
it, but because it’s all played so quickly, no one really notices when playing without
CD. Just so you know, that last part doesn’t fit in with the CD.)

CHORUS.
                 E D A
And I don’t know why I just let it slip by me all the time, I just
                E
wish you’d have tried.
                 E D A
And I don’t know why I just let it slip by me all the time. I just
                E
wish you’d have tried.

Yeah!

E E/A E E/A E E/A E (let ring)

OUTRO
e ---------- 0 – 0 ---------------- 0 ------- 0 ---------|
B ----------------- 0 -----------------------------------|
G -------------------------------------------------------|
D ------- 2 -------------------- 2 ------- 2 ------------|
A ---- 2 -------------- 0h2 - 4 ------- 0 ----------- 2 -
E – 0 ------------------------------------------- 3 – 0 –

e --------------------------------------------------------------|
B --------------------------------------------------------------|
G -------------------- 2b(slightly) ----------------------------|
D ----------- 0h2h3h5---- 5 – 3h2 - 0 --------------------------|
A – 0h2h3h5 --------------------------- 5 – 3h2 – 0 ------------|
E --------------------------------------------------- 3 – 2 - 0-|

(Again, as with the solo, this last part isn’t 100% accurate. Just play it with the
really quickly, and it should do!! It’s all a variation of a blues riff.)
